Record Prize Fund

There will be a record purse of £407,000 on offer to connections of runners at Cartmel this season. Included within the most valuable programme of races ever scheduled for the Lakeland track are four Class 2 races – devised to attract some of the best horses, jockeys and trainers available.

The raceday camp sites are busier than ever this year and we’ve already sold all of the spaces available for campervans and caravans for the fixtures on 25th May and 18th July – although there are still pitches available for tents on both dates.

While space remains for all forms of camping on the other six racedays, early booking is recommended – especially as we approach the busy Easter week.

Award Winning Cartmel

Cartmel scooped a prestigeous Showcase Award at the RCA’s prize giving night for Corporate Social Responsability. The award recognises the degree to which the racecourse is integrated with the medieval village – an important part of the attraction for many racegoers.

Cartmel Nominated For 3 National Awards

Cartmel Racecourse has been short-listed for three national awards by a panel of judges acting on behalf of the Racecourse Association – the trade body for British racecourses – who manage the racing industry’s “Showcase” event next month on the 13th November.

2015 Fixtures Announced

The 2015 fixture list, including 8 race-days for Cartmel, was announced by the BHA on Monday 20th October.

Cartmel’s Summer programme, which includes four 2-day meetings, will commence on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May and end on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August. There will be a brand new meeting in June on Friday 26th June and Sunday 28th June.

William Hill Sponsor Classiest Cartmel Race Ever

The William Hill 80th Anniversary Handicap Hurdle on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August, will be the first Class 2 race ever run at Cartmel and will become the highest class race ever run at the track. The contest will have a prize fund of £20,000.

At a meeting where the food is almost as important as the horses, it is fitting that Unsworth’s Yard will be sponsoring the very last race of the two-day card at Cartmel this weekend. The Unswoth’s Yard Handicap Hurdle brings down the curtain on the track’s Barbecue meeting on Monday, a race which celebrates one of the biggest success stories in Cartmel’s recent history.
