Frequently Asked Questions

Common queries relating to Cartmel Racecourse.

Can I buy tickets on the day?

Yes, you can buy both Paddock and Course tickets on the day. Advance online bookings are however a little bit cheaper. All packages such as hospitality, party tents etc must be pre-booked. Paddock Parking must also be pre-booked. Course Parking is available on the day.

How will I receive my tickets?

Most tickets are sent as e-tickets via email, which we recommend you print and bring with you. For hospitality, party tent and camping packages, your tickets will be sent out along with your welcome pack via the post. All pre-booked parking bookings will be sent a parking hanger via the post, too. If you have chosen the Gift Pack option when purchasing tickets, your entire booking will be sent out to you in a welcome pack via the post.

Should I print out my tickets?

Please print out your ticket QR codes if at all possible, as this makes scanning your ticket quicker on arrival. Tickets can be scanned from your device if you are unable to print them in advance.

Can I upgrade my ticket on the day?

There won’t be an option to upgrade your Course ticket to a Paddock ticket on the day.

How can I place a bet on a race day?

We have a choice of bookmakers at all fixtures. William Hill and the Tote will be here, as well as a number of on-course bookies. All bookmakers will accept cash or card.

Can I buy a race card on the day?

Yes, racecards can be pre-booked with your tickets in advance and collected at one of the race card huts, or bought on site by card at a cost of £3.00.

Will there be a funfair?

Yes. Located in the Course Enclosure, our resident fun fair is here at every fixture! You can pre-book discounted funfair vouchers online with your tickets.

Can I bring my dog?

All dogs are welcome throughout the racecourse, except in the indoor venues. Please keep your dog on a lead at all times, and clean up after them.

What time should I arrive?

Opening times can vary depending on the Race day you are attending. You can enjoy the funfair, food & drink vendors and access to the village any time from gates open, though you may choose to arrive closer to the start of racing.

Can I visit Cartmel village during the day?

You are welcome to wander in and out of the quaint village of Cartmel, just adjacent to the racecourse – just remember to keep hold of your ticket and scan out and back in again. Please note however that access to the racecourse via all entrances closes approximately 30 minutes before the beginning of each race. Due to the nature of the race track, there is no access to either Enclosure during live races.

I'm not able to attend, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately all our tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you are unable to use your tickets, you are welcome to gift them to someone else.
