Cartmel’s 2020 tickets get off to a flying start

25/11/2019

TICKETS for a day out at one of Cumbria’s biggest summer attractions are off to a flying start.

Cartmel Racecourse launched sales of its 2020 meetings last month – sparking an instant surge of support from fans keen to secure a day out at their favourite track.

The unique course welcomed more than 90,000 visitors during its nine racedays of the 2019 season – making it one of the most well attended horse racing venues in the country.

Cartmel Racecourse manager Geraldine McKay explained tickets were off to a faster start than ever before.

“Cartmel is unlike anywhere else in the country, there’s such a magic to this place which is why it has loyal visitors who want to come back year after year,” she said.

“Christmas is also looming and people seem to be moving towards the giving of experiences as gifts, rather than material objects, which we think is another reason for the excellent start.

“Many of our visitors see a family day out at the races as an excellent way to make sure they will spend quality time together in the warmer months before everyone gets too busy to fit it in.”

Horse racing has taken place in the historic village of Cartmel since the 12th century.

Now, the course enjoys a range of first class facilities for both visitors and equine athletes.

The 2020 season at Cartmel will kick off with the three-day Whit meeting on Saturday, May 23.

It will be followed by two-day meetings in June, July and August.

Geraldine added: “The response this year has been amazing already, we’re all absolutely delighted.

“While there are no racedays through the winter months the whole team are always incredibly busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for the season ahead.

“We’re also looking forward to being able to reveal the name of the headline act for our June 26th Concert Day.

“We’ve got plenty in store for everyone set to enjoy a day at Cartmel next year. We’re certain it’s going to be an exciting season.”
