Cartmel thanks dedicated teams behind the scenes for Racing Staff Week

THE sport of kings is packed with thrills and excitement, attracting hundreds of thousands of racegoers to courses the length and breadth of Britain every year.

But behind every race – and every racehorse – is a team of dedicated, hardworking people who make it all happen.

Now, those in charge at Cartmel Racecourse have issued their thanks and recognition to everyone involved in the sport following Racing Staff Week.

Operations manager Fran Horne explained the horse racing industry was packed with enthusiastic individuals working across a vast array of roles.

“A huge amount of work goes into every race meeting, every horse lining up at the start of each race,” she said.

“So much goes on behind the scenes that the general public don’t get to see. Now is the time for us to say thank you and to highlight those teams and the vital work they do.”

Cartmel Racecourse last week enjoyed its June meeting – one of nine held throughout the year.

Its popular two-day July Barbecue meeting is set to get underway on Saturday 20, followed by a second day on Monday 22.

While a core team of staff work at the course all year round, the numbers swell during racing season and in the run up to racedays.

Fran added: “We’re lucky to have a very talented team here at Cartmel who are all passionate about the industry and its equine athletes.

“Racing Staff Week has been the perfect time to draw attention to their efforts and to celebrate all they do to create the magical atmosphere here on each and every raceday.”
