New Season Brings Enhanced Facilities for Racegoers


The improvements result from the racecourse’s policy to invest in both the facilities at the racecourse and prize money for the races and will benefit customers in both public enclosures.

Hard surfaces surrounding the Grandstand have been refurbished and landscaped using materials from Burlington Stone, sponsors of the Grand Veterans Steeplechase on Bank Holiday Monday. A life-size steel sculpture of a stallion overlooks the Parade Ring. The equestrian sculpture is on loan from local artist Andrew Kay.

The Conservatory Restaurant, located adjacent to the finishing straight, is another new feature for diners in 2014. Racegoers can enjoy a buffet lunch and afternoon tea while keeping their table for the duration of the races. While customers are advised to pre-book, there is likely to be some availability for racegoers looking for somewhere to dine on the day. The package price of Β£80 per person includes admission and parking. Customers who have already paid for admission will be able to book for Β£60 per person.

More excellent food and beverages, including many local specialities, can be found in the Tented Village. Located just behind the Conservatory Restaurant, the Tented Village features an outdoor big screen, a large public bar, the Winster Valley Brewery Real Ale Bar, the Cartmel Brewery Real Ale Bar, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, Morecambe Bay potted shrimps, seafood bar and pizzas.

Paddock Enclosure patrons in the picnic area should immediately notice an improvement to the public address system for 2014. Meanwhile, the access drive to the Course Enclosure has been resurfaced and the junction with the Cark to Cartmel road improved.
