Cartmel Nominated For 3 National Awards

24/10/2014

The popular Lakeland track has been nominated in the categories for “Food & Beverages”, “Operational Excellence” and “Corporate Social Responsibility” at the 2014 RCA Showcase Awards, celebrating excellence and innovation on Britain’s racecourses which takes place at Haydock Park Racecourse next month. Cartmel is one of just two racecourses which have reached the short-list for three separate awards, the other being Ascot.

Cartmel Managing Director, Jonathan Garratt, said “This is a huge compliment to everyone who is involved with the racecourse: all of our staff, many local contractors and all of the local Clubs and associations that arrange their events here, many of whom also help us to run the racedays.

“We have received our nomination for Corporate Social Responsibility as a direct result of the large amount of community participation on the site – everything from the Cubs and Scouts, through to the sports clubs, the dog-walkers, the Agricultural Show, various charitable events and even the annual fireworks display. Although I am delighted that the racecourse is receiving recognition for innovation and customer service, it is our involvement with the community that makes me proudest of all.”

At the end of the evening one racecourse will be named overall Showcase Champion, as decided by an independent judging panel.

RCA Racecourse Services Director Caroline Davies commented, “We are delighted to announce the finalists for the 2014 Showcase Awards, and would like to congratulate Cartmel Racecourse on being a finalist three times over. It is a remarkable achievement. We received more entries than ever and the quality of those nominated by our judges was very high indeed.”

The RCA Showcase Awards in the evening follow on from a daytime programme of guest speakers and discussion topics, which will this year focus on community work as well as the changing face of the customer. Guest speakers include representatives of Great British Racing, Coral and Center Parcs as well as Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs.
